ABOUT THE BAND
(click the pic for TastyFanzine Review)
This is the first big, beautiful, alternative rock sound to come out of the tinybutperfectlyformed Isle of Man. The band grew up here, started playing music here, got signed, recorded their album and even filmed their first video all on this little chunk of rock.
And you thought we didn’t have electricity?!

BACK DOOR SLAM

Hailed as the 'future of blues' this young band from the Isle of Man are fast living up to the hype. With Ross Doyle on drums, Adam Jones on bass and fronted by an extra-ordinary new talent in the form of guitarist/singer-songwriter Davy Knowles, these boys are bending the ears of all the right people -

LA TIMES called Davy '..a guitar God in training'
SEATTLE TIMES said they '..heard the spirit of Jimi Hendrix - it was a group called Back Door Slam'

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel's major US network show in April 2008, they've now played 100+ dates across America, taking in festivals like SXSW, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Download. They've supported Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Styx, George Thorogood, Corinne Bailey Rae, REO Speedwagon, Don McLean & Rusted Root, their superb blend of traditional blues and contemporary singer songwriting has also seen them headline the international Bushy's Big Wheel Blues Festival, alongside big names like John Hammond, RB Morris and Connie Lush. They are managed by Bob Miller of the Running Media Group.

We released two EPs by the band - the first, released in 2005, sold out very quickly and is no longer available; the second - featuring original bass player Jamie Armstrong and video clips from the band's 'Homecoming' gig at the Gaiety Theatre in June 2006, has now also sold out and is no longer available - sorry! But keep an eye on their website - backdoorslam.com - as their superb debut album 'Roll Away' is out now on Blix Street Records.
